The Evidence-Based Practice Unit (EBPU), housed at the Ontario HIV Treatment Network in Toronto, supports and promotes best practices in community-based services. Our role is to support all Ontario-based agencies and programs funded by the AIDS Bureau (Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care), the federal AIDS Community Action Program (Public Health Agency of Canada), and the Hepatitis C Secretariat (Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care). We provide assistance with data collection and data management, and with reporting and evaluation needs. We also provide general support for the development and implementation of evidence-based programs and services.
The EBPU’s goal is to build the capacity of AIDS service organizations and other funded agencies and programs so that they can:
- Use the information they collect via OCASE and other tools to improve their services
- Report via OCHART to show the impact of their work and
- Ultimately provide better services to people living with HIV or Hepatitis C in our communities.
The EPBU also supports the implementation of promising and best practices for data collection and service delivery.
